I've been using Edison Mail as my primary iOS mail program for several years. For at least the last two years I consistently will see a badge for 1 or more new emails on the app icon appear but then going into the app will show at the top "Checking For Mail" and then no new messages (it will say"Updated Just Now"). Closing the app makes the badge count disappear.

Additionally, the badge might show "2" but going into the app I'll only have 1 new message.

This drives me crazy! What is causing the app icon to display badge notifications for new messages when there actually are not new messages? If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, etc that can help me resolve this, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!

Have you got any unread emails in other folders on that account?
I was suspecting it could be something like that but closing the app makes the badge count disappear. If the issue was unread emails from other folders, wouldn't it require me to mark them as read/open them, for that badge count to clear?
