HTC One, honestly you will love it.
I sold my one month old 5S and bought the One and I couldn't be more happy.
Even thinking of picking up a Nexus7, I'm loving android and Google services that much.

I'll vote Nexus 5. Personally I don't like the One.

lol

we had it narrowed down to note 3, htc one, or lg g2...

the nexus 5 is a no because its not worth getting it on a contract and I'm getting a contract phone.

[/COLOR]May i ask all note 3 owners....how do you feel about the size?

I have kinda small hands so basically i can't use the phone with one hand i don't think...

No problem with the size for me. I've got average hands. That being said, my wife also has no issues.

what about when making calls? does it feel odd because of the size etc....?

I can only speak from my personal use but as a male with average sized hands I do not feel a phablet is easy to use with one hand. My limit is a 5" screen. Anything larger and I need to use my second hand at times.

My main gripe is the power/wake button on the One. It's poorly placed in the upper left. It might not bother you. I'd vote G2 here. If you think you can handle the size of the Note 3 it's also a great choice.

If you're set on upgrading and using a carrier phone, I'd go with the Note 3. My other recommendation would be to upgrade to an iPhone 5s. Sell it. Buy a Nexus 5 and have money left over.

If I could rewind 4 months I'd probably go GPE S4. Great hardware, home button, and excellent camera.

Why the home button? 5" of screen really is 5" of screen.

I wouldn't get a Touchwiz S4, and wont consider one going forward after Kitkat.

hmmm yeah I'm thinking same thing as well
gonna play with the note and see if i can handle the size....if i cannot, i will have to deal with the 16gb lg2 and just buy a separate iPod.

iPod for what?

I prefer HTC one whether note 3 is the best android phone at present.because of the larger screen issue i think you can go with htc one.

I use speakerphone 90% of the time so it's a non issue for me but I can hold it to my ear just fine. If the size bothers you at times, you can turn on one handed use, it's great.

I would recommend an HTC One. The battery life is not that bad, plus it comes with 32GB of storage, and is still a solid phone all around despite its age;)

Htc one or note 3?

There is a new one coming out soon though

Basically I am due an upgrade and decided to get an android phone.....

I am looking at these phones, note 3, LG G2, HTC One and maybe even the S4

What is putting me off the note is its size...its way too big to be a phone imo and also I have heard the HTC One has poor battery life, as well as the fact that the phone is kinda old now and a new one will be coming out in early 2014 (I can't wait till that long to get the new model)

Also the LG G2 only comes in 16gb in the uk which is way too small especially today.

I am very happy with my Nexus 5 (except for a widget that won't update, but that is an app problem).

Is there any reason that you would not consider an S4? Considering that you are looking at a Note3 they both are Samsung.

Things that the S4 has over the One is expandable storage and removable battery.

The HTC one is slick build factor and I might be tempted myself, but considering storage is one of your concerns.....You will be having that phone for 2 years. Carrying around a phablet after a year or so might get rather tedious especially on the occasions that you will want portability.

The S4 is newer than the One and if you don't like touch wiz it is very easy to use another launcher ie Nova Launcher without having to root. The camera is better on the S4 than the HTC One as well.

I can't advise on LG as I only have washing and dryer machine made by them. I do have an S3 which has been very reliable and a good phone and all arounder. The screen is big enough to watch whatever videos and read on.

Good luck with your decision.

Why do people think replacing a launcher will get rid of the OEM's skin

That isn't that large. Seems silly to use an iPod for your music needs no?

The g2 is only 16gb so most of my storage will be used up with just music alone

anyway i have ruled out the G2.

I am deffo not getting the LG G2 now...i can't deal with 16gb

Like you said the note 3 was an option but I am going to go in store in the next week and hold it....see if i can deal with the size...
i am getting an iPad next summer when i start uni so i was thinking if there is any point having a note 3 and an iPad....lol

the s4 could be a choice but i have heard bad things about lag....so if i don't get the note 3 i will probe get the htc one, even though the htc one is old now which is what is putting me off in the first place. I hate getting a phone on a contract than three months time, a new version of that phone comes out!:(

I don't claim to be tech girl, but when Touch Wiz crashed a few times due to whatever errors, I switched launchers. I have no errors. I know some things stay the same but for the most part it got rid of the way Touch Wiz behaves which is what I wanted (home screens etc.) I actually love the pull down access to the BT wifi etc...

I guess for me it was enough to change the way that I interact with the device visually.

What he's saying is, Touchwiz is more than just a launcher. The launcher is just that...a launcher. That notification panel that you just mentioned is a part of Touchwiz, as is many other features of the phone.

Contract or not, Nexus 5 is still better than all these 3 phones (other than the camera).
