IIRC Apple warned users to enable trim on evo840 and 850 when trimforce first showed up in 10.10.4, due to some bug in those drives. Maybe they've disabled the possibility for those models all together?

    Have you tried trim enabler?

What OS X version are you on and how is the drive connected? TRIM won't work over USB for example.

If you are on Yosemite 10.10.5 or El Capitan you should be able to turn on TRIM with the command below in Terminal. You do not need to disable SIP.

    Code:
    sudo trimforce enable

No, Apple didn't issue a warning like this. There was a Linux bug involving Samsung SSDs but that was unrelated to OS X. Trim works fine in OS X with the Samsung drives, and isn't blocked by Apple.

Using the stock SATA connector and not a third party card or anything?

Sorry i mixed it up, Apple just threw a general warning when running trimforce in 10.10.4 and stated they took no responsibility for dataloss due to enabling trim
