I recall seeing a first person game where you could manage your mothership RTS style, and land on planets and fight on them like FPS, I remember the game having bad graphics (it was old and looked like the first planetside), I remember a PC and mac version but not sure, anyone know what I'm talking about?😕, been looking for it for some time now.

You may be thinking of Master of Orion 2 ? There was no FPS combat, but it sounds similar.

Direct X 2 days on that one. Graphically intensive! 😉

Master of Orion 2, I was thinking that too reading the OP. Man, that brings back some good memories!!

🙂

Everything you said fits the re-imagined Battlezone from Atari in 1998. Awesome mashup of RTS and FPS. I would hardly refer to the graphics as 'bad', though. Miner 2049er had graphics that were bad.

Bahh. You're too picky. Those teleporters blew my mind back in the day.

On topic, Battlezone '98 was also the first game that popped in my mind, but I don't remember it having anything like a mothership anywhere in it, let alone one you manage.

...maybe it was one of the Tribes games?

I remember it having FPS combat as in infantry, but it did have some vehicles, almost like a combination of Planetside, Spore, and Xcom, if that makes sense, I am also sure it was singleplayer only.

Space Rangers 2 would fit your description, but I don't know if it ever had a mac version. GOG has the reboot version for sale on PC.
