Earlier this month I advised my younger cousin to go with the stock 256GB MBA 13". He's a college freshman, just started two weeks ago, and he couldn't be happier with it.

Honestly, if your daughter only does the things you described, an MBP would be massive overkill. I don't know about the US prices, but with the student discount the MBA 'only' cost 1160€.

It doesn't have a DVD drive, but you can add an external drive if she nees one for school.

I was thinking about the MBA; however, someone already said it has the same bad graphic screen as the classic MBP. lol. My daughter said better screen nix the cd/dvd drive.

Also in order for me to get full insurance value, I have to buy comparable unit/pricing- which puts me in the rMBP 256GB price point. I have some other questions for the insurance agent and once those are answered, I will go ahead and purchase before the 9th.

You can't do much wrong with the 2.4/8/256 rmbp. Its the besg bang for the buck.
