My viewing does not fill the entire screen, I have like 3 inch black bars on both sides of the screen where the picture does not go. Also my favorites bar does not fit into the viewing area any more, now I have a arrow to access the favorites that don't fit.

I don't know what I did or how to fix it.

any help would be awesome!!!

Is your screen resolution set correctly? Check by going System Prefrences>Displays and make sure in the list of resolutions you have set it to the highest

Seconded. You probably have a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution set on a 16:10 aspect ration monitor.

It could also be that your monitor's span has been adjusted too far within the bezel to create a squished look. Very possible if you have kids that could be messing with it or something.

Ok that worked for the most part. Thanks.

Boy these Macs are weird compared to windows!!

I definitely know this. I think the only thing I miss about my desktop is opening it and having to fix it all the time. This is how I learned how computers work (or not work to be more specific). LOL
