Help mounting Disk Image

Today I downloaded a .dmg file and it will not mount. Actually, no .dmg will mount. I get a Warning window that says the disk images failed to mount and the reason is that the Device is not configured. I am running G5 dual 1.8 with the latest update osx 10.4.8. I have repaired permissions and no worky. Power cycled and no worky. Tried to mount with disk utility and no worky. Does anyone have suggestions? Will I need to reinstall osx? Thank you.🙂

We'll I reset the PRAMy but still not worky.

How about restarting your mac? Do you normally send it to sleep, or shut it down?

Yes, it has been restarted and it is usually turned off when I'm not using it. When it is on it doesn't sleep.
