In all my years as a Mac user I have never had virus issues.

However, something very funky is going on with my Chrome browser specifically (and not on Safari).

Any site I go to, I immediately get an interruption from another page that intercepts and gives me some bogus "contest" offer or that I am invited to take a special survey.

When I go to my Chase Bank page to log in, an similar interception takes place saying there has been some "data breach" and I should sign up for a free credit report.

All bogus crap.

Just wondering how the browser got affected, how I can identify the problem and get rid of it.

Would just deleting Chrome and reinstalling it do the trick?

Thank in advance for the help.

You don't have a virus, as no OS X viruses exist in the wild. You may have some adware that you installed along with another app. If so, it can be removed by using this tool: AdwareMedic

GGJ,

My God! That worked.

Thank you so very much. You have no idea how appreciative I am.

Wow, I tried that app and it found something. Apparently it slipped through when doing something with Firefox, which I hardly ever use. Amazing, I thought I was uber vigilant but these dudes are way cleverer.

Thanks for the tip.
