i bought a new imac last summer, and have had no problems, it's been wonderful. however, last week, i was online in firefox, and it wouldn't connect to the internet. i opened up safari, same problem. i have a pc sitting on my desk, also, and have no problem connecting to the internet with it, so it must not be a router problem. i've tried unplugging everything, when i boot my mac back up, it works great for about 10-15 minutes, i go online with no problem, and then it stalls out and won't connect.

i'm so clueless, can somebody give me help with this? i tried googling, and somebody said i needed to updgrade adobe flash, which makes no sense, but i did upgrade it in firefox, but it didn't help. i struggle with the technical stuff, that's why i've loved my mac, it's been no problems at all, until now...

    1. Are you connecting through the router with ethernet or wirelessly?
    2. Have you verified and repaired permissions lately?
    3. Have you done all the latest OS X software updates?

Does your router need a firmware update? Not sure if this would help you since it sounds like your PC is working fine with your router.

Hope some of this helps you.

Hmm this is one problem I have heard macs getting and well I have no fix.

However make sure that everything is updated, your mac won't be annoying and ask you to windows update all the time. So click on the little apple in the top left, and Software Update. Tell us if there are any updates and if it started working.

If not, we will be happy to look in more :)

If your using home wireless, there is a good chance your router needs replacing. If your using a wireless ISP there is a good chance you getting interference / cut outs (happens a lot with these kind of internet connections). If its a wired connection through and through, you may have a bad network controller on your logic board.

Not necessarily. Try resetting it to factory settings and see if that makes a difference.

So sluggish just means you can't get online? Like others said, look for software updates and check the router. Then let us know. Repairing permissions works for little connection issues like in iMovie and such.

    Try clearing out your cache?

when my MacBook Pro gets "sluggish" sometimes i run MainMenu it's like the windows program CCleaner for mac =D
