Hi all,

My Mac name is now up to 'Mac (5)' after I noticed it incrementing a week or two ago. Time Machine started reporting my backup drive was full (even though it has 1.5TB available) around the same time.

Any ideas why it's incrementing & how to stop it?

Many thanks for any help

First delete the 5 in System Prefernces-->Sharing. Then restart and boot into the recovery disk. Open Disk Utility and repair your permissions. This is what fixed it for me, give it a try.

There's a 10-page thread in the Yosemite section related to just this issue.

For what it's worth, mine hasn't incremented since I had it at my brother's house last weekend.
