O.k. I had did a clean install of OS X on my Powerbook. After installing all my progs I went ahead and put on OS9 because I wanted to use a few programs that I had that only worked under OS 9.

When I went to resatrt my Powerbook to boot in OS 9 I keep getting a little icon that resembles a 3.5 disk wiht a blinking question mark on my screen. How Do I get it to boot back to OS X. I am very desperate.. Thanks for any help.

Try restarting the macine and holding down the 'option' key, it should give you some buttons to choose from for which startup disk. If that doesn't work, start from CD and verify the disk!

I did that but...

I did that...

I held down the "option" key, and it came up with my hard drive with the old mac logo on the bottom right hand corner of it. Which I asume it was refering to the OS 9 startup. I checked the disk using drive 10 and there is nothing wrong with it.

If as a last resort I reinstalled OS X would it wipe everything out or just put the OS back on the drive leaving my setting alone? Thanks guys for all the help...

Peace...

Also...

Also... is there a way to get the computer to default back to OSX to boot from... like another key to hold down at the start up? I am new to macs... thanks again

ok...

...
1) What kind of PowerBook is it?
2) Try holding down command and s while starting up
3) try holding down command shift option p r ( I think) while starting up
4) Try holding down x while starting up

If none of those work, you may have a busted hard drive. The flashing question mark means it can't find a startup disk. Try reinstalling the system, and if that doesn't work, send it in for repairs.

Catfish_Man Has done it!!!! Thank You!!!

You are aMAc god in my mind right now. By Holding X it reset the start up disk info and sent me back into OSX , Thank you soooo Much... Peace Out...!!!!!!!
