I added ram to my 800 mgz powermac desktop. I unplugged everything first. I know your supposed to touch the metal plate on the back but I belief I did this after I unplugged my mac. "duh". Now when I hit the power button the light goes on for a second or two and I hear the fan start up for a second and then it just shuts down. I tried resetting the PMU button and removed the clock battery. I also changed and removed my memory but nothings happening. Could I have fried my motherboard or something? What else can I try?

sounds like you may have fried something. I'd make a quick visit to my local apple store before taking the chance of making things worse
