Help!!! My pictures are saving as text files.

I'm trying to save pictures that I find online to my mac but it's saving them as text files. It was working earlier today and it just all of a sudden stopped working. Does anybody know what's going on? 😕

Are you right clicking (ctrl-clicking) and selecting save image as, then selecting .gif/.jpg or other image file?

Try right-clicking and using "Save Image As ..." and uncheck Hide Extension to see what it's saving them as. If the extension's correct, it's your viewer. That will mean going into the View menu or Preferences and checking it out on that end. If the extension's correct on the pics you've downloaded, they're still OK if you didn't mess with them. You're just seeing the code inside them most likely.
