Help my wifi internet works but nothing ever loads

Hey I didn't know where else to post this so I post instead....

I've been having wifi problems and not sure if its my macbook pro or the wifi connection I'm borrowing.... As soon as I connect to wifi my safari pages wont load but if I open ventrilo to connect to a server it works..... When I try to play world of warcraft nothing loads.... When I try to check for mac software updates it wont load either.

ventrilo connect to a server - which server? is it on the local LAN or external?

Can you ping anything?

im only able to enter empty ventrilo servers cuz the populated ones i kno doesnt allow me on and that never happened before untill this internet thing started....

the empty ones my ping shows as 36-41 which is good.... my mac isn't slow
