Help: Need help with PHOTOS imports.

Hello,
I have a question on importing image files to an external SSD to save on storage space. I have looked at the photos APP but I can not figure out how to do it. Attached is an image of the only system setting I have found in the PHOTOS app. Running Sequoia on my Mac Studio.
