i have a G3...running 10.2.4. 288MB ram...the original keyboard is awful. keys stick, dark (can't see it unless i have a major light on it) , layout is not user friendly... are there compatibles similar to a pc keyboard on the market that will work with an iMac??? also would like a scrolling mouse...somebody please respond...this is my second plea here...thanks in advance...

former pc girl,
...suzi

Theres some keyboard out there thats really expensive (see $80) but really well made. I can't remember the name of it though, someone might know around here. It has really "clicky" buttons and it is really a pleasure to use.

Or you can go on eBay and see if you can find an old Apple pro keyboard when they had the underside of the buttons made out of metal instead of cheap plastic. Those were some nice keyboards. You might find some in the >$30 range.

I thought it was called the icekey but that doesn't look like it and I don't think it was from Macally. Or I could be totally insane. :)

I hate to admit this but a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse with scroll wheel is the way I went with one of my systems.
the keyboard is nice on the fingertips and has all the media and shortcut keys while the mouse is wireless, quite light, optical with scroll/tilt wheel and two buttons, which helps with the short cuts.
Logitech makes a similar set which I feel is better but is about $30 more.
Macally products are great but I dont like the feel of their keyboards, too crunchy...
Really depends on how much you want to spend, and how long you spend on the keyboard.

Duff-Man says....I think you mean the Matias Tactile Pro - it is as solid as a rock and definitely recommended for those that are really fussy about their keyboard....oh yeah!

yeah yeah thats it. BEST keyboard I have ever used. ever could justify the price though seeing as I can get keyboards for just about free now a days. But with Christmas coming along... ;)

You can get the tactile pro at small dog for less small dog. About 80 usd instead of 100usd. There might be better deals out there.

The Apple keyboards are not as nice as the Apple Pros? And I was just about to get one for the PB.

Another vote for the Tactile PRO- it's awesome! One minor caveat, I beleive I have a malfunctioning USB hub, b/c everytime I try to plug in a device I get a low power error. That might just be my unit, though.

I'm planning on getting a keyboard to go with my laptop, since I don't want to be using my powerbook keyboard all the time. I'm looking for a wireless keyboard, and I figured I'd just go with the Apple bluetooth one, but can anyone recommend anything different?
