I have a macbook air. I need to reinstall osx leopard. I downloaded an image of leopard. However, I cant get it mounted on my 8gb USB stick. I only have a windows computer. I tried Transmac but it did not work> It asks me to decompres the DMG file.

What do i dO?

The easy way to install the Mac OS onto a MacBook Air is via Apple's MacBook Air Superdrive. Just connect it and then you can install Leopard and other software directly from the install DVDs.

The more complicated way is using the Remote Disk capability.

no superdrive. Yes legit copy I prepared for cases of emergency. The problem is i didnt know i couldnt mount the DMG file from my windows computer in an event that my mac crashes like this.

I remember I saw a program in the past that could mount a DMG to a usb stick but I dont remember the program's name.
