Help needed! DiskUtility...

I have a 12'' Powerbook and external 500GB disk. The disk is with 2 partitions right now, both HFS+. When create one more partition, for booting leopard from, I cannot format the 3rd partition to "Apple Partition Map". The "Options" button for choosing this is just grayed!
Please help, thanx for answers in advanced!

If you're running 10.4 disk utility doesn't have the ability to repartition without reformatting.

Whoops, sorry your post is somewhat difficult for me to understand. Can you provide more specifics? What drive is this concerning and what are you booting up off of?
