I feel like an old man, I am completely confused. My current MBP is 6 years old and I haven't kept up with all the new ports and adapters.

What do I need to buy to plug in a regular USB cable to the new MBP I ordered? For example, I want to charge my Jaybird headphons, or just use the iPhone sync cable.

Also, and this may be completely stupid, is Thunderbolt 3 the same as USB-C? So I can plug in any USB-C cable/device?

Sorry for my confusion, and thanks for your help.

I realize I need an adapter, I just have no idea what I need to get. Is Thunderbolt 3 the same as USB-C or at least the same plug? If so I need to get what? USB-A to USB-C?

This should help

I think thunderbolt 3 is the same as USB C. I guess apple used the term Thunderbolt 3 rather than usb C to sell the "thunderbolt" term during the keynote.

It got me confused at first- but a quick duckduckgo search and I found they are the same thing- Apple actually helped in the design and functionality of the USB C standard.

I would just hope that the new iphone 8 also moves to usb C standard to make things all easy.
