Ok, so first things first. I have a 500 gb external HDD that is currently partitioned at 350 gb, and 114 gb, roughly. The 350 part is what I use for Time Machine, and the rest is just for storage of iMovie projects, applications I may have downloaded and stuff like that. What I plan on doing is to re-size the 350 one to about 250, and then increase the 114 to about 214 gb or so. I then tried going into disk utility, as it was how I partitioned the drive in the first place, and then attempted to re-size each partition. However, the only problem was, I could reduce the size of each partition, but couldn't increase them either. Literally, no matter what I did, I couldn't decrease the 350 gb one to allow more to be given to the 114 one. Is the only way for me to accomplish this by formatting the entire drive and re-sizing it that way? The only reason I can't do this is because I don't have anywhere to place all the files temporarily until the format is complete.
