I share my 512kbps internet connection with my girlfriends brother.

I have an iMac (Core Duo) 17"
He has a PC. I'm using a Netgear Router

I want to prevent Neighbours being about to surf using my connection.
So how do I set up a password to do this. Either in my OS or with the Router options.

Can anyone help.
(I've tried going on Netgears site but it's not exactly simple).

Hey 🙂

I use Linksys, but the process is typically the same.

Connect to your wireless router in your web browser via it's IP address, like http://192.168.1.1, and look for a Wireless Security section.

There are different types of wireless security. Pretty much all devices support WEP, but it's not exactly high security. For the purpose of keeping neighbours off your net connection, though, it'd be sufficient. If WPA is available then by all means try it.

Reading the help files on your wireless router or the manual that it came with would be very beneficial.
