    I am currently looking for a new 160 or 200 gig harddrive. I prefer the 7200 RPM-models to the 5400RPM's for speed-reasons.

However...I sometimes read that they can be pretty loud.

Has anybody experience with a 160 or 200 gig harddrive at 7200 RPM's in terms of noise? Any impressions much appreciated!!!:)

I have a Seagate 160 GB 7200 RPM drive, and it's just as quiet as any 5400 RPM drive! It doesn't get as warm as the old stock 60 GB 5400 RPM drive that came with my MacBook, which is saying a lot! Battery life is also virtually identical. I've heard that the Hitachi 200 GB 7200 RPM is very much along the same lines, so if you have the money, I'd put my money on that one. :D

With my first Macbook I went with a Seagate 100GB 7200rpm from Newegg, quiet and fast :)

The Seagate 160gb 7200 is a great model to go for IMO. Quiet, cool, efficient and fast. Most of the 7200 Seagate's are lovely :)

3 votes for Seagate! I'd also like to add that Seagate has a 5 year warranty :)
