I'm hoping someone here can help me. My step father passed away a month ago and my brother wants to use his iphone. The email attached to his iTunes has been closed so there's no way to get his password. Apple told us we need a power of attorney. Can it really be this difficult? Is there any way to reset the phone with out a password?

I'm sorry for your loss. If you're referring to Activation Lock, then no, there is no other way to bypass it.

There's no way currently to bypass the passcode (assuming its on iOS7). Now in your situation I'm not sure what the process is (and if Apple could do anything). At the end of the day it'd be cheaper to just buy a new phone.

All were trying to do is remove iTunes from that phone. And reset the phone all together.

There's no pass code on phone to unlock it.
