For the last 4 days, my wifes iPhone 5 has been in recovery loop on and off and last night it finally managed to restore.

I used a iCloud backup from a day earlier which according to my phone is just under a gig in size.

Everything appears to have restored but photos havent. We are not using iCloud drive for photos but I still thought the camera roll would have restored as the settings are the same as mine and it is marked as green.

If I look now the size of the back up is still around the gig mark with the next back up scheduled to be 1.1gb

Is there any way of getting these photos from the back up itself (I know some programs are advertising a restore function) or would it be worthwhile to try and back up again to see if they copy across this time.

I am assuming the photos are within the back up as the list of entries only amounts to maybe 300mb which is all apps etc.

Any help would be really appreciated as the photos are from the kids on Christmas day.

iCloud backup doesn't backup all the photos unless you pay for the cloud storage plus turn on iPhotos in the cloud

if you want the pictures back you could go to photo stream , that holds 1000 pictures and download them from there

if you want to back up photos, you really should be using iPhoto or iTunes

maybe iPhoto allows you to drag phtos from photo stream and put them back in your library and then sync the library to the iPhone???

photo stream is only limited to 1000 pictures

if you want pictures on iCloud, pay 99 cents to 3.99 a month for 20 or 200 gb and turn on iPhoto iCloud
