Help new apple tv user

I set everything up and i can watch you tube videos with sound directly from the apple tv.
When I open a tv show to stream to my apple t v no sound only picture. My iMac is brand new mirroring is on apple tv box is hooked up correctly but I don't get any sound.

ANy ideas
what have I missed

Is sound still coming from the iMac?

Check System Preferences > Sound > Output to make sure your ATV is the destination for system audio.

never mind found out how i hope it stays on though and i don't have to set it up each time i want to stream a tv show from my iMac

If its in iTunes just use airplay instead of AirPlay mirroring. Otherwise just ignore this 🙂.
