Hello,

New Apple Watch owner here, and my Apple Watch SE has a red lightening icon with the current time in green next to it.

I found out after the fact that the SE comes with a USB C charger, so by the time I was able to buy a USB C wall adapter it was already in this ‘Power Reserve Mode’ or something. So I don’t know if it’s the new wall adapter or the Watch or something I’m not during right.

It’s been charging for 2 hours now and still nothing. I’ve tried holding the ‘Side Button’ and no Apple logo appears. Holding the ‘Crown’ and ‘Side’ button for 10 seconds to reboot doesn’t even work either.

Help!

BTW This is the wall adapter:

I know it’s generic but it shouldn’t matter right? It’s has a 20W USB C port.

Update: must have been a defective wall charger, the Apple branded USBC wall chargers worked just fine.

Are you getting a green lightning bolt on your watch? Like the ones in the top row of pictures here:

If not, the watch isn't charging, and you need to try other adapters/cables. That does look like the right type of adapter, but you could have a defective model. There's also the chance that you have a defective charging puck. The best thing would be if you could find someone who has a watch charging setup that is working, and you could try charging your watch on that.

This is what I’m getting.

And it stays like that even when you put it on the charger? If so, it's not charging.
Yep, gonna have to get a Apple branded USBC charger now. Geez thanks Apple. If your gonna switch to USBC GET IT OVER WITH ALREADY DONT HAVE SOME WITH LIGHTNING AND SOME WITH USBC!!!

Yeah, it's a mess. Right now all our devices are lightning, I dread the confusion when we inevitably start getting devices that use usb-c.
