iPhone HELP! New IOS upgrade seems to have hung phone!!

The latest upgrades was downloaded to the phone last night. I told the phone to install it. It has been on black screen with white apple logo and progress screen stuck about 1/4 thru for an hour and a half😡🙁

Do a hard reset as instructed already by dozens other in existing threads regarding the update.

iOS 7.1.2 install causes problems

My iPhone 5 is hung up while iTunes demands a Restore. Why should any normal upgrade require re-setting your iPhone to factory settings?
