Hi team,

Not a Mac expert and in a pickle, I have just got a new iMac 24'' so looking to sell my MBP 13'' 2019, unfortunately when I went to erase and reset it to factory settings it seems to have deleted the operating system. When I go to reinstall Mojave there is no disk to select, when I try per online guides to create a partition, the option is greyed out, would anyone know next steps?

Any help appreciated,

PRINT THIS OUT and follow carefully.

1. Boot to a special version of INTERNET RECOVERY
Command - shift - OPTION - R

2. You'll need your wifi password, and it will take a while for the internet utilities to load.

3. When you get to the internet utilities, open disk utility.

4. IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT:
Go to the "view" menu and choose "show all devices".

5. Look on the left. The TOPMOST line represents the physical drive, this is what you need to erase.

6. Select the physical drive and click the erase button. Choose "APFS, GUID partition format".

7. Erase the drive, should take only a few seconds.

8. NOW quit disk utility and open the OS installer. Start "clicking through".

9. The Mac will restart several times. The screen will go dark for a few minutes, just wait. BE PATIENT as the OS installs.

10. When done, you should see the initial setup screen ("choose your language").

11. See if you can go to the menu bar and quit. Then shut it down.
It's ready to go.

Hmmm....
Before you tried any of this... did you SIGN OUT of iCloud? Etc. ...?
If you didn't, it might cause problems for a buyer later on.

I don't think you're going to get much $$$$ for an 8-year-old MacBook.
Have you considered keeping it "as a spare" ...?

OP reports a "MBP 13" 2019" in the first post, so probably less than 2 years old.
Should be quite "sellable"

ok team trying that today, really really appreciate it, and yip did sign out of iCloud!
