Help! No Signal error at start with Denon x1700 and ATV 4K gen 3

Hello - I have an Apple TV 5k Gen 3 connected via HDMI to my Denon x1700. My TV is an LG C3 connect to receiver via eArc. The system was working fine for over a year until a couple of months ago.

Now when I turn the system on for the first time, I receive the error "No Signal". I use the Apple TV remote power button, which turns on all three devices. After the error shows for a moment, if I wait a couple of seconds and press either the home or back button on the remote, the video blinks again and usually all works correctly. Every once in a while, my timing is off and after pressing home it blinks a couple of times and the "No Signal" error stays. In order to get it working, I need to turn off all devices again. This is problem for my wife.

Does anyone have any suggestions for fix? Other Denon and ATV users report a similar problem. Many theorize that there was an update that messed things up. I've tried various cables and resetting the ATV.

Same issue. Set up is Denon AVR 1800 AVR, LGB3, ATV4K 2nd gen. My theory is it is an occasional HDMI handshaking issue between AVR/ATV/TV. I'll have to try your home/back button trick the next time this occurs, which in my experience/guess is about ten percent of the time.

I have the same with an x1800h, LG G4, and 2nd gen Apple TV 4K. Very frustrating. I've temporarily switched our setup to have the Apple TV go direct to the TV, then use eARC for sound to the receiver—we'll see if that's more reliable. That's not how I'd ideally have things connected, though, as I lose out on features like the receiver on-screen display that way.

All - thanks for the reply. I tried unplugging all three devices for 20 seconds. This fixed the problem for the next two power ons, but the issue came back.

I ended up plugging the ATV directly to my TV as Nullref. The eArc seems to work. My test was playing apple music via ATV and the Denon shows Dolby Atmos. For now, I think this is the only real solution.

Bumping this thread.

My apple TV updated recently to 26.4. My LG TV updated recently its web os software to 10.3.0-25 (33.31.20). Does anyone know if the HDMI problem is fixed now? Just asking before I unplug my ATV from TV and move it back to the receiver.
