I loaded norton AV a few hours aho...Loads slow and gives me beach ball on start up

I want it gone....

I am Running Time Machine backup on an outboard hard drive if I select restore from the Time Machine it then asks me for my password about the desktop and then says can't copy some files and shuts down

what am I doing wrong?

I just want restore from yesterday as if this never happened

delete it, use ClamXav it free works like a charm..

+1.
ClamXav is all you need. It works really well, has a scanner that works in the background (if you want to) and can also find Windows Viruses.

OS X World is the simple world. No need for Windows behaviour. Use it out of the box and have fun!

If you also used the Norton firewall, check out Little Snitch instead as ClamXav is AV only. I personally rely on the one provided by OS X though.
