Are they locked? How to unlock them? All other keys work fine. :(I unpaired it thinking that would help if I reconnected it but I can't pair it back cause it asks for numbers that I can't type. But all else works like number 0.

Not to my knowledge no. It worked for a bit and I was able to pair it back up, and I was able to type numbers for about fifteen minutes and now it suddenly stopped working again.

Which wireless keyboard do you have? Is it the full Apple wireless keyboard with the separate numbers keys? Or the standard rechargeable wireless keyboard that Apple supplies with its desktop iMacs?

It looks like this one attached. It is an apple wireless keyboard third generation - two batteries.

I read somewhere to "press alt option five times", but that did not work.

Okay, yeah, that's the model with the replaceable batteries. I have a later model with built in rechargeable battery.

At this point, the only thing I can suggest is to replace the keyboard if the number keys are not working. You can try to take it apart to see if there's anything that's obvious causing the keys not to work. I'm assuming you tried fresh new batteries?

You need to establish whether the keyboard is faulty or if you have a software issue. So first thing is to try the keyboard paired to a different Mac, and then another keyboard paired to your Mac. Does the fault remain with the keyboard or the Mac?
If the fault stays with the Mac (most likely software problem), try things like (in no particular order):
Booting in safe mode (hold shift key at boot)
Using a different user
SMC (and NVRAM) resets.

Thank you will test this out and hopefully salvage this keyboard as I like using it or just replace it. I thought I had number locked it which is why I asked originally to see if there is some function on here I hit by accident to cause this but it seems not.

Same issue here too, on a wired apple keyboard with numeric keypad. The keypad works fine, and yesterday the standard numbers just above qwerty were working fine as well. There were no spills, laptop was put to sleep and now keys aren't working from backtick/tilde through to hyphen/underscore... I've tried the clear key, shift+delete, and other variations but no luck. If anyone finds a solution, please post. Thanks

Same issue here. 1-9 not working on the magic keyboard. All other keys working. No water damage, new batteries, no other defect. It was working fine one minute then afternoon, not working. Ive unpaired, then couldn't pair it again for days as the numbers are needed to pair. Then a week later, tried it and it worked for mins, then back to 1-9 not working again. Very strange. Looks like many people have this issue, as lots of people on other sites asking also but no solution found from what I can see. Has anyone here found one? Id love to think its been a short cut hit in error which has turned them off? and it can be reversed but cant think what it would be? Tried the mousekeys option, shift-clear (although i don't have a separate number pad, its the 2 x battery magic keyboard I have, 2nd generation i think)

Anyone else found anything that works?

just had the same issue and found a fix on another page. And just fixed mine. By pressing and holding the power button on my wireless Mac mini keyboard for 3+ seconds and powering it off. And then turned it back on using the same power button and kept it pressed in while it turned back on for 5+ seconds and now my number 1-9 work again. Hope this helps some other people. Cheers

Slightly different problem with the 1-9 keys on the A1644 wireless magic keyboard. Today for some reason (no spills) when you type the digits 1 to 9, the letter from the row immediately below is added automatically before the digit ie. q1w2e3r4t5y6u7i8o9
The issue follows the keyboard.
Anyone else notice this problem and was able to resolve or requires hardware change?
Thanks
