I got an email from my brother at Caltech today (see all the good universities use macs) and it seems he has been having trouble with the Mac in their lab. He tells me he set the computer up 2.5 years ago and can't remember the password.

Well today someone turned on multiple users.

I got him in my telling him to boot from cd and remove the multiple users control panel and extension.

But now he wants to figure out the password.

I haven't used os9 in over a year, and haven't used it as my main opertaing system in about 2 years, so i am pretty rusty.

Anyone know how to reset the password (like in osx) ?

Put the multi-users stuff back, and trash the prefs file. then he should be able to make a new password.

amazing...how dumb is that...honestly...

to make it that easy to overwrite passwords in the system...heh...
