Okay, so I started with a jailbroken (but not unlocked) iphone with firmware version 1.1.1 and bootlegger 3.9 with AT&T service that I've had no problems with for the past 3-4 months since I purchased it. I decided I wanted to get some of the 1.1.3 functionality, so I followed the guide step by step here to upgrade to 1.1.2 and had no problems (everything went as it said it should). I then followed Method C to upgrade from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3. This also went completely as planned. It finished with the upgrade and the iphone reloaded fine with the customizable springboard window coming up. I then followed the instructions to upgrade the Installer. As soon as this upgrade finished installing it went to the emergency screen and now it will only let me make emergency calls. When I plug it into my computer nothing doesn't show up in iTunes. So I followed some advice I found and put the phone into recovery mode and did a restore to 1.1.3 via itunes. That also seemed to go fine (all of the actions in itunes completed without any problems), except now I can't do anything on the phone! The 'slide to unlock' button is greyed out and I can't even receive calls...if someone calls me it tries to come through but I can't 'slide to unlock' to answer the call. Soooo, from there I tried to do a restore again to 1.1.4 through itunes. Now it didn't even activate my phone, even though it seems like it worked again, and now I don't even have service, can't 'slide to unlock' and can't even receive calls period (I assume because it says I have no service and hasn't been activated). Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm now stuck with a completely non-functional iphone!

If all you did was jailbreak and your really stuck then take it back to Apple and tell them you upgraded to 1.1.4 and it won't activate and they will replace it!

Jailbreaking does not leave anything on your phone so they will just think something went wrong.

Having said that it may be worth restoring again but trying it on a different computer and NOT using a backup! restore it as a new phone then itunes will try to activate it.

However your phone is not bricked it is simply not doing what it is meant to!
