No problem.

You will here different opinions I am sure, but 3.2mp is enough to do 8x10s for most people.

Both are great cameras. If you have kids, or want to capture distant detail the ease of having a 10x zoom with IS can't be beat. The A95 has a smaller "size".

For my 2 pence, I've just bought the Canon A75, which is the A85 but with 1mp less and a slightly slower shutter time- it even has the same manual.

Its a neat camera- picture quality is top and works with the mac fine. I like the panoramic feature myself- the camera helps you take a sequence of shots and the software pieces it together for you.

The manual controls are good and comprehensive.

Got a set of 2100Mh rechargables for it- batteries lasts for ages.

Dont know what the other one is like, but I'm dead pleased with my Canon.

Anyone have any experience with the Fugifilm S5100, and how it compares to the Canons mentioned above?

At least this isn't an iBook vs. Powerbook thread 😛

Canon A80 Photos

Go with Canon! I bought my A80 the week it came out and love it. Check out the link above for sports shots I took indoors. I am waiting for the new cameras next month to get something like the Canon IS (the zoom!), but with more megapixels.

The link above also includes short movies I took with the A80.

EDIT: I didn't use the best resolution when I posted the photos, because it would've taken too long and would make it difficult to view because they would be so large. But, anyways...

Canon and Nikon are generally regarded the best, but I'm not a photographer so I'm not sure. I just stick with those 2 companies because from experience with Canons, they have taken some sweet pictures. The Canon "A" series takes better pictures than the Nikon consumer models like the CoolPix model with 5.0 MP. My Canon A60 with 2.0MP takes better pictures than my friend's Coolpix 5MP camera because the images appear less blurry, and take photos better in dark conditions. 😉

Don't know much about photography, but I do understand a bit about imaging (x-rays, mainly). The reason Megapixels (MP) doesn't necessarily result in better image quality, or even better resolution, is because after a certain point, the pixel size is so small that it's not the determining factor in resolution. You can make each pixel smaller by getting a 7 MP camera rather than 4 or 5 MP, but the resolution will be indistinguishable even on larger 8"x11" prints. I only print 4x6", or possibly 5x7". The type/brand of CCD used, camera motion, lighting, etc, will have a greater effect on image quality than MP.

A high MP camera will still capture photos with poor resolution if your hand is shaky. The images will be a bit blurred, making it difficult for you to differentiate small things (ie: text on a piece of paper) as being separate, which is what resolution is, right? The CCD matters most, and Canon apparently uses good CCDs. 🙂
