Hi, Mac people.

Wow. My previous post in this "MacBook Pro" forum resulted in Terrific feedback.
THANKS very much for that, people.
I put this query in the "MacBook" forum... so far, 350 views, and Zero replies.
Ah, well...

I'm a PC guy, but that's irrelevant.
My 16-year-old son wants a Mac for Xmas,
so I found a used PowerBook G4 M8981LL/A for $300.

I'm just trying to verify that all of the software is up-to-date,
and all of the parts work.
I did the "Apple", "Software Update".
It updated iTunes, and I restarted the system.
Now, "Software Update" says everything is up-to-date.

I inserted an audio CD, and it says that iTunes needs QuickTime 7.5.5.
I can't get that to work.

I know nothing about Macs (or Leopards, Tigers, Panthers, Lions, etc...)
In Apple > About this Mac > Software, the "Kernel" says "Darwin 9.8.0"
Does that mean that this thing was made long before any of those Cats? :)
In Applications, QuickTime is v 7.3.

My immediate question... HOW do I get QuickTime up to 7.5.5?

Thanks very much for your help, here.
(Please excuse the Cats sarcasm/humor). :)

Thanks very much, Intell, for the reply.
Your first link solved the problem. It works.

As mentioned, my post in the other forum got no reply.
Apparently, yous peoples in the "Pro" forum are much nicer.

Again, Thanks.
