Help Please! I am getting the spinning beach ball

every time I open Safari or Firefox to even simple sites like Google. I have to force quit to stop it. This has only started since I upgraded to 10.5.5. Any help is greatly appreciated. p.s. I did a search and didn't find anything.

Have you run disk utility and checked your disk? repaired permissions?

Yes, I have, I should have put that in my post...sorry.

When you get the beach ball, open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder and see if those apps are taking all the CPU power.
