Hi.

My imac will not boot it is just displaying a gray screen with a stop sign.

I had just completed a hard disc defrag using drive genius and on re-start got the error message also the drive genius disc is still in the drive spinning please any help would be appreciated. I have tried phoning apple but apparently there help line is closed until tommorow.

To me it sounds like a dying hard drive :(

See this recent thread which has discussed the problem.

The hard drive is fine the dfrag software has somehow unmounted and damaged the disc DO NOT USE DRIVE GENIUS.

Now I am gonna have to do a full restore thankgod I have my time machine back up.

It is quite a know fact to not use Drive Genius, as it does more harm than it does good, except when needed.

Mac OS X does not fragmentize like Windows does, so you're better off without such tools, unless you need to repair and recover data.
