typed in terminal
Diskutil cs delete “fusion drive”

It came back fusion drive does not appear to be valid core storage logical volume group UUID OR NAME

DISKUTIL LIST

/dev/disk0-13
Disk0 guid partition
Disk1 Apple partition scheme with disk1s2 OS X base system that’s read only
Disk2 guid partition with disk2s2 apple_hfs free bands

I’m just trying to completely wipe my MacBook Pro and have a clear and fresh start with no time machine backups or any os discs
I bought for extra to take on the road with OS X 10.9.5 installed and I tried to upgrade to El Capitan and did save anything and I’ve been having a problem every since I erased the hard drive and the recovery hd is locked

Which drive is in the Macbook? As far as I know, only apple has a fusion drive.
Apple started making fusion drives in 2012 in the iMac and Mac mini.

AFAIK, they never put a fusion drive in a laptop, although I suppose one could make his or her own fusion drive by removing the optical drive and replacing it with an SSD.

That's what I would do if I had an older Mac.

Okay.... you can ignore those Fusion disk commands because you do not have a Fusion drive.

It sounds like you have command-r booted to recovery then you erased Macintosh HD. Is that correct?

If you can, command-r back to recovery and in the Utilities menu open Terminal and run the command below and tell me what it says.

Code:
diskutil list

I'm still not seeing the full output of that diskutil list command like I showed up in post #7. It should show how much space is used on each partition like in my example. Can you post that information.

I am having a similar issue as well. I have read several topics with similar troubleshooting but I haven’t found the solution. Please help. I also deleted Macintosh HD. My Macbook Pro is a late 2013 model. I am currently in Internet Recovery mode and most options are greyed out. I am not trying to recover any of the data. Thanks
[doublepost=1515025982][/doublepost]I called Apple Support and now I’m good. Smh the only thing they had me do different was press Command +OPTION + R.. instead of solely Command+R.. it was like night and day, all the right options were available and not greyed out.. not sure but maybe this simple addition can solve many peoples problem. Thanks

Okay that helps... I see a partition there called "Both" you should be able to select to install the OS. Is that avialable as a choice?

The problem I think you are going to have though is if I understand you correctly, you bought his used, so you have no AppleID you ever used to obtain El Capitan. So when you start the install you will be asked for that AppleID and you will be stuck.

If that happens, I think you would be best off just to buy a Snow Leopard OS X DVD from Apple and install from there, then you can upgrade from that if you want later.
