Help please macbook pro how to cool

Hello all

i have a mbp that was given to me it is the 2.2 version model.
I was working on word document the laptop started getting hot the fans spinning like crazy etc.

Is there a software that i can use?
can you please point me out to it?

My fans spin up when the Spotlight indexes. Could this be happening to you?

As for cooling, I have mine propped up on a dictionary and thesaurus to allow air to flow underneath the machine. I have the blue freezer gel packs that I will put under the machine and it draws the heat effectively.

For fan control, try smcfancontrol.

I second smcfancontrol. I use it on my Macbook. It used to run a bit hot for my liking but I raised the min. fan speed from ~1800 to 2222. Now it seems to run much cooler. =]
