Upgraded ok (ish) to Snow Leopard, but have this question mark (see grab below) on windows...

What is it? What does it mean?

Probably a broken alias that has been dragged to the toolbar. You can delete it in the customize toolbar menu or try dragging it off.

Was your Finder Toolbar customized in any way before you updated to 10.6? Does the ? represent some icon that was once there? Can you simply remove the ? from the Toolbar by control-clicking it and selecting Remove Item from the Menu?

Try Command-clicking the ? and drag it out.
