Hi all - hoping that someone here has experience with this and we can avoid having to go into an AT&T store to do this.

My partner and his mom are on the same AT&T account. He recently upgraded from the iPhone 5 to the iPhone 6+ - his mom currently has the iPhone 4S.

Now that he has upgraded to the 6+ he wants to give his mom the 5 that is now inactive. Is there a way to swap her 4S out for the 5 and transfer the service to that phone online through the website?

I know ordinarily you could just take the SIM out of the old phone and put it in the "new", but since the SIMs are different sizes between the 4 and the 5, that won't work.

Thanks!

If you go to AT&T they will give you an unactivated SIM card. Put it in the 5S and then call AT&T to notify them that you want service moved to that SIM and IMEI number and it is done. I have done it many times.
