my computer is Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

:(:apple:

my problem is when i open garageband or sound forge pro softwares on i mac
i can not use microphone input by using my USB audio

I think the solution is about format on my USB audio...

it was 24000.0 Hz 1ch 16 bit ..!

and those softwares do not record by microphone input

they says

" Sample rate not supported.

the USB AUDIO device does not support a sample rate of 44,100 Hz.

Check your device's settings and capabilities.

[Error code: = 8004e019]
"

please help:( how i change this format for 441000.0 Hz.

With the knowledge that i had been checked on "audio MIDI setup"

and there was no another format it has 24000.0 only i can not change it .

I updated the title to be a bit more descriptive.

OP means Original Post by the way.

Exactly what model and manufacturer is your USB audio device? Be specific.

Not every USB audio device provides multiple sample rates. If yours doesn't, then you'll have to replace it with one that does, or use software that accepts sample rates other than 44.1 kHz when recording from your USB device.

One of the weaknesses of Garage Band is its limited input sampling rates:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/GarageBand
Weaknesses: Limited to 16 bit/44100 Hz (Garage Band 4 can do 24 bit). ...
The Audacity audio program, among others, doesn't have that limitation.
