Hello dear community.

I finally decided to purchase an iPhone 13 mini, and now that I am using it to take pictures of text on the blackboard (among many other situations) from a certain distance, I notice that after taking the shot it appears normal, and suddenly after half a second it gets smoothed out. Like, reducing the noise, and using the AI to detect text and making it sharper. And this might be useful, but sometimes when the text is far or a bit blurry, I'd really like to have the option to deactivate it.

I know, after the iPhone 12 or 13 was released, there was some controversy about a hidden "beauty mode" that users couldn't deactivate, and this looks similar. I just want unprocessed pictures, just like the ones on my iPhone 8. Is that possible? Thank you.

Basically you are looking for this thread, the discussion has been going on for a while:

To summarize it: if you're bothered by Apple's photo AI, use a third party app like Halide, or shoot in RAW and then process using your favorite editor.

Thank you @ManuCH I hadn’t seen that thread.
Although mine isn’t a pro device, it is the mini, but I am having the same issues. Photos look like they were smoothed by an AI app. Probably an A15 thing.

I will try third party apps like Raw+ or ProCam 8. I know Halide Mark II is the best, but it is a bit expensive at 50€ (and I don’t pay subscriptions)
