help! Remove scratch from back of iPhone 3G?

Can it be done? I've heard of some suggesting tooth paste on the iphone 2g back but what can I do about a big scratch on the back of my iPhone 3G white?

I would have said Brasso, but I don't think that works on plastic.

You could sandpaper the whole back and not have to worry about any additional scratches!

The problem is that is long like 2 cm long and black on my white back...

Try some kind of really, really fine rubbing compound? A lot of people don't realize that sandpaper comes in really, really fine grades... so fine that it practically feels slick. Perhaps that might help?

I'm actually considering sandpapering the back, but I have googled for a bit and looks like nobody has done it yet.
