Installing a clear cover over screen damage is hardly "hiding" that damage.
This looks like the common screen de-lamination, along with a bit of other damage from the keycap edges.
Apple has had a service program that replaces screens with that issue. I don't know if it is still active or not.
If you can get to an Apple store, that would be a good place to check.
(I place a sheet of printer paper on the keyboard when I close the lid, which I think helps prevent the keycaps from contributing to that.)
Your MacBook Pro, less than 1 year old, certainly is in warranty. Another good reason to have a "genius" take a look..
