Tried to set up my X and I'm stuck.

Started with the new fancy method of using the camera of your current phone.
That worked great.
Then I was prompted to finish set up using iTunes.

When I connected to iTunes I'm prompted if I want to set up as new phone or a backup.
I clicked on my latest backup.

Then I get an error message saying that iPhone X could not be restored because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone that is being restored.

Did I miss a step somewhere?
Should I have clicked on new phone instead of backup when I connected to iTunes?

Thanks.

Make sure your copy of iTunes is the very latest. It has to be the latest version to deal with the X.

I had the same problem restoring from my backup
My backup was on the latest iOS and the new iPhone X out of the box wasn't
I had to set up the X as a new phone and update the iOS
Once I did that, I wiped it and restored from my backup with no issue

That's the answer. Update the new phone first. Your old phone was on a newer firmware. You can only restore a backup from the same or older firmware.

Edit:

Never mind
Just popped in the old sim and all is good.

Thanks everyone!!
