Why don't you just set your computer to hibernate-mode once and leave it there? If it wakes up from hibernate at about the same speed as it wakes up from a non-hibernate sleep, then what's the difference?

Have you tried this? That is, setting it to hibernate mode and seeing if there's a difference in wake speed? You already have the command-line to do it, I just wonder if you've actually tried it yet.

I'm also not understanding why you insist on writing this script yourself. Or more precisely, having us write it for you, and you simply type it into your computer. There are already third-party utilities that switch sleep modes. Why do they not meet the goal of switching sleep and hibernate modes?

If your concern is that they may have compatibility issues, then why do you think your script would be any different? In other words, your script could have exactly the same compatibility issues, for the same reasons, as third-party utilities. If you only use the third-party utilities solely for its sleep-mode switch, what other reasons prevent you from using them?
