Hmm...Hmm... They weren't bad, it's true, but have you ever tried the M4 mini? There's enough to make you not look back for long, my friend... Even with the price.

Mac mini M4, MacBook air M4 silver 2025, iPad air
im finished with 
as my Mac mimi M1 will be the last one!

2018 Mini will still run the latest version of Mac OS (Sequoia).
Don't know if it will be able to run what comes after Sequoia.
I think this next update, macOS 16, if it’s the massive redesign they are rumouring, it will require an Apple Silicon chip. So 2020 or newer.

That’s my hunch, because then, they will get rid of a lot of old Intel code.

I reccomend saving up for the m4 mini if you can.
In the mean time you can make your 2010 mini run much better by reverting the os to Mountain Lion and using firefox dynasty as your browser. And/Or try Brass monkey suite that includes mail client.
The older macosx ( before Yosemite) are much less resource intensive, and will even run ok without an ssd (you didn't mention if your 2010 mini has one or not).

Having said all that, if your 2010 mini is failing and you can't afford anything more expensive, the 2014 mini would be fine for your usage.
I have 2 of them, one connected to tv for streaming shows, and one used for photo editing and general internet usage. Both i5, 8gb ram, ssd. I have windows 11 on one and mojave on the other for photoshop cs6.
I don't know if you could get 5 more years life out one, probably not. But it would be a big improvement over your 2010 model.
