So I followed this guide to setup syncing of my Desktop with Dropbox, so that Dropbox became and behaved as my new Desktop. At this point I want to undo this, and go back to the original default behavior, but unfortunately the guide does not explain reversing the change.

I thought I figured it out, by first running "mv desktop.bak desktop" (opposite of the original), deleting the symlink of Desktop that the second command put in my home directory, and renaming "desktop.bak" back to "Desktop" via finder . But unfortunately, the items on my desktop are still my Dropbox contents, not my Desktop contents, and "cmd-shift-D" still directs to Dropbox.

    Thanks for any advice!
