If you haven't saved your 4.0.1 SHSH blobs, yes you're screwed.
I'm pretty sure I didn't. Will I just have to wait for the dev team?

Thanks.
Are there any speculations as to when a new JB will be released for 4.0.2?
Thanks.

There won't be a jailbreak for 4.0.2. It'd be a waste of an exploit just for people who stupidly upgraded without an SHSH on file. You'll have to wait for 4.1
I'm sure you on about a iphone 4 or 3gs but if not and your talking about a 3g or 3gs (non MC model) then you can use redsn0w to jailbreak 4.0.2
Return the phone and buy a new one with 4.0.1
Yes, if Apple is still signing 4.0.1, then you should be able to downgrade. Please make sure you do a backup 1st. Also make sure you download the 4.0.1 ipsw file and use shift Restore option to restore it.http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f456/iphone-4g-4-0-2-jailbreak-unlock-1072437/
Since Apple is still signing 4.0.1, shouldn't I be able to just downgrade?

And last don't forget to save you SHSH blobs once you restore it to 4.0.1 using Tiny Umbrella. You may be still able to save your SHSH now also, since i don't have a iPhone4 not 100% sure about it. Just did for 3G yesterday for my buddy but the 3g was restored to 3.1.3.
When I try to shift - restore, it gives me an error saying "iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible"
Looks like you don't have the correct ipsw file. When I try to shift - restore, it gives me an error saying "iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible"
What is the Itunes error msg/error#?Why would I be getting that itunes error? Should I downgrade? Itunes is at 9.2
Use Tiny Umbrella and click option on right side "Kick Device out of recovery mode" and it will reboot fine..I restored it, but i got a 1004 error, and now I get the recovery mode screen on my iphone...
